These are video clips demonstrating popular responses to the performance horse bodywork. Some horses have no reaction during the sessions, but afterwards the animal adjusts to the new "way of going" and improvements in performance, attitude, or behavior can be enormous. Just wait until you FEEL the difference when you ride, jump, or drive your working partner.
Trumbull County, Ohio: After giving this Arabian mare some time to process the Right Lateral Cervical Flexion technique, she releases her tension by scratching her upper neck with her right hind hoof. If you watch close, besides swishing her tail, you will be able to see her toss her head, twitch her ears and nostrils, and also jerk a little with some muscle quivering. All horses conduct these actions from time to time, however, what is important is the correlation of the bodywork techniques completed and then the responses that follow. July 2015.
Chardon, Ohio. A paint mare rubs her left shoulder when the right hind is being addressed. Watch how she participates in the session, releasing her own scapula and signals when she is ready to continue. After the bodywork session, her owner noticed a world of difference in the mare's aggressiveness towards people and also towards other herd members. July 2015.
